sleeping horse
angled bones lean
into sunset

सो रहा घोड़ा
टेड़ी-मेढ़ी हडि्डयाँ झुक रहीं
सूर्यास्त की ओर



after a long illness
the farmer tends his land
with greater respect

एक लम्बी बीमारी के बाद
किसान अपनी ज़मीन सींच रहा
अधिक श्रद्धा से



cold mountain
evening air creeps from
beneath its shadow

ठंडा पर्वत
संध्या की हवा रेंग रही
उसकी परछाई के नीचे से



in evening stillness
the sound of bird wings
stroking air

सायंकाल की स्थिरता
पक्षियों के पंखों की आवाज़
हवा को सहलाते हुए


Janice M. Bostok, has been writing and having haiku published for almost forty years. She was editor/publisher of the first magazine devoted to haiku in Australia (1972-79). Over a period of time she has almost constantly edited for magazines and judged for haiku contests. She still gives workshops and advice by email.
